2020 SAQA Benefit Auction: Kris’ Dream Collection

Share

Every September I look forward to the SAQA Benefit Auction, where you can bid on some really fantastic artwork. There’s a tradition of creating your dream collection from the hundreds of available artwork. Deb created her dream collection a couple of weeks ago. Mine is below. Why don’t you build your own dream collection? Click here to start. The auction starts September 11. Mark your calendars!

The Inspiration

We are in the process of having our kitchen remodeled. Truth be told, it’s my mother-in-law Jane’s kitchen, but we’ve lived with her for the last 17 years so we feel quite at home. Anyway, everything is out of the kitchen except for Jane’s kitchen clock. I’ve always loved this clock, so we let it inspire the new kitchen. And it, in turn, inspired my dream collection.

The Artists

Barbera, Bonnie. They’re Just Pipe Dreams. I just love how everything is unanchored. And that hint of orange is what I looked for to pull all the pieces together.

Bates, Kim. Untitled. What’s not to like. It’s wonky, just like the clock!

Farrier, Kristi. Senseless. The intersecting circles keep grabbing my attention.

Hansen, Karen. La La Land. Are those trees? Flowers? Who cares! And they’re wonky.

Koolish, Lynn. Tumbling Blocks. I love the translucence not only of the blocks but the background as well.

Melms, Diane. Mirth. I love the shapes and how they seem to float.

Mollon, Sandra. Nautilus I. Just look at the flow (and glow) of the colors in the shell.

Patterson-Kutras, Geri. Wonky Little Town. I already own one of Geri’s pieces, but, oh, would I love to add this to my collection. It would go so well in my wonky kitchen!
