This is Deb, back with my SAQA Benefit Auction post. Kris picked eight grid-inspired pieces last week. I decided to try something a little different. I have several auction pieces I’ve purchased over the years, and there’s no rhyme or reason to them. What if this year I picked eight pieces that I could add to my collection to create a curated look? Would I be able to do it? Of course I would. With over 400 pieces of art to choose from, it was a fun exercise.
My Current Collection
I have more than a few auction quilts, but here are four of them.
See what I mean about there being nothing to unify these pieces? Since I was looking at my collection, I thought I should consider where I’d hang the quilts. I used the magic of Photoshop to put some of the auction quilts in my own house alongside the ones I already own.
The TV Collection
What do you think of this collection? The TV isn’t always turned on, so the wall could use a little spicing up.
Starred quilts are already in my collection.

The Bookshelf Collection
The side of the bookshelves below are pretty boring, and we pass through this doorway many times each day. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to look at these pieces?

How The Auction Works
Visit SAQA’s auction page website to view all the available quilts up. Online bidding goes live on Thursday, Sep 13 at 11 am Pacific Daylight Time for Diamond Day bidding. Any quilt will be available for $1000. Starting Monday, Sep 16 at 11 am PDT, bidding starts at $750 for pieces in Section 1 only. Each day thereafter, the price is reduced until Saturday, when all remaining quilts in Section 1 are priced at $100 each. This process is repeated for Section 2 (Monday, Sep 23) and Section 3 (Monday, Sep 30).
Just in case you’re thinking about outbidding me, I have created several different arrangements. I have my eye on at least another eight pieces. Let the bidding begin!
