“The Reader’s Alphabet” was a commission for a collector who had purchased our “A is for Apple” quilt at a charity auction for Studio Art Quilt Associates. The only stipulation: make the other 25 letters of the alphabet. We had full control over the object that represents the letter and the theme of each letter. We certainly had fun with V is for Volkswagen and Z is for Zigurrat. An example of our thinking process: D is for donkey, and the words and phrases were all about politics.
